I went to Haiti after my first year of medical school with the Gaskov Clerge Foundation. This is a great organization that has done a great deal to help the citizens in Haiti in the past and I have never met people so committed to helping Haitians. I urge you to consider helping them with the relief efforts in Haiti. Your contribution will help the people in Port-au-Prince.
I know many other organizations out there, I encourage that you donate if you can. The Association for American Medical Colleges has put out a site that looks at some of the roles of academic medicine in response to the disaster in Haiti. It’s a slightly different perspective and a lot of great links. In addition, they offer a list of links to donate to. You can find that site here: Academic Medicine Responds to Crisis in Haiti
